Merlin is a mid 1980's built Merlin Locomotive Works "Mayflower" design engine.

She was originally maroon in colour when first built, but at some point in her life she was repainted (rather badly) into a shade of green.

She arrived at the Elmtree Line named "Kristina" but it was decided to give her a name more fitting for such a historic loco.

In March 2012 She was sent to Matt Acton's "Berry Hill Works" to be repainted, and to have her Kristina nameplates removed, she would emerge a very different looking locomotive named "Merlin"

Merlin is modelled on the Narrow Gauge steam locomotive found at The Rudyard Lake Steam Railway near Leek in Staffordshire and both have met!
